Statement of the Front of Nations for Self-Determination (FNFSD) on the Occasion of February 21, International Mother Language Day
On February 21, International Mother Language Day, the Front of Nations for Self-Determination (FNFSD) strongly condemns the occupying and racist policies of the Iranian regime, which aim to erase the national and cultural identity of tens of millions of South Azerbaijan Turks, Kurds, Ahwazi Arabs, Baloch, Southern Turkmens, and other oppressed and occupied nations under its rule.
For decades, and continuing to this day, the Iranian occupying regime has systematically sought to eliminate the national identities of non-Persian nations through repression, banning mother tongues, demographic engineering, historical distortion, and forced assimilation policies. These actions constitute a blatant violation of fundamental human rights and directly contradict the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and international commitments to linguistic and cultural rights.
The FNFSD demands an immediate end to this linguistic and cultural genocide and calls on the international community, human rights organizations, and linguistic rights advocacy groups to take concrete actions to stop these colonial and destructive policies. Erasing the languages of the occupied nations is not only a racist policy but also a form of cultural and identity genocide that endangers the very survival of these languages and cultures.
We emphasize that the only way to preserve the national, cultural, and linguistic identity of the oppressed and occupied nations is through the realization of their right to self-determination and the attainment of independence. Without national freedom, no nation can protect its language, culture, or human dignity.
On this historic day, we reaffirm our solidarity with all nations under the occupation of the Iranian regime and urge all awakened consciences worldwide not to remain silent in the face of this blatant crime. It is time for the international community to take serious steps toward securing the rights of oppressed nations and ensuring the survival of their languages, cultures, and national identities.
